Stories of Empire in the Jewellery Quarter
A tour of the Jewellery Quarter Cemeteries, Key Hill and Warstone Lane, the final resting places of over 150,000 individuals, explored the area's deep connections to the history of the British Empire, highlighting politicians, industrialists, soldiers, and migrants with colonial ties. Led by Josie Wall and Zak Saleh, it was developed in collaboration with Beatfreeks and Legacy West Midlands. Part of The Lunar Society's ‘Birmingham’s Commonwealth Heritage – The Lunar Legacy’ project, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, this heritage tour offers a unique perspective on Birmingham’s global historical links.
